Have courage for the great sorrows of life and patience for the small ones; and when you have laboriously accomplished your daily task, go to sleep in peace.
Victor Hugo

I am the type of person who  never had respect for sleep but that is probablybecause I always sleep well. However many of my friends suffer from what they think is insomnia but really, in most cases their problem with sleeping is more likely because of lack of preparation for sleep rather than an inability to sleep.

Most people now days take the elemental gifts of life for granted, they think because we are born healthy, breath naturally, sleep naturally and make love naturally to mention just a few things we don’t need to be taught to do that they can’t improve on their technique.
If that were the case the The Odyssey would never have been compossed,  Meditation and yoga  would not have been invented and why do we care to build hospitals?
Truth be told sleep is a journey and like every journey you take you need  to prepare before hand so that everything goes right in the best possible physical & mental state. If you suffer from insomnia do not just accept it – do something  practical about it.
I read an article on A Good Night Drink which listed 10 Tips to Help You Get a Good Night’s Sleep. I think they arehit the nail on the head if you really want to do something about your problem.
Here is an excerpt  but if you would like to read the whole article go to 10 Tips to Help You Get a Good Night’s Sleep.

Sleep in a well ventilated room.
You might think this is a motherhood statement (common sense) but I can’t tell you how many people I know who sleep under heavy bed clothes in a room with the window and door closed. The room is like an oven with little or no air circulation.
When I was in my early twenties I was having difficulty sleeping one time. After asking me a few questions, ………………….
Actually studies have found that the optimal room temperature for sleep is around 15-20 degrees Celsius.  This reduces core body temperature and induces sleep.

I have only printed a very small excerpt so I recommend you read the whole article if you want to cure your sleeping problem.
